Balancing Act - Issue 6: Section 1
STAYING FOCUSED
I don't know if it is the time of year when the weather is getting colder and the days shorter, or what. But I am finding it increasingly difficult to stay on track with my diet. In fact at this moment I am challenged to see who is stronger- me or my daughter's box of chocolate-covered almonds calling me from the kitchen pantry. And then we all know what is coming up- holidays and all the temptations they hold. ARGH
So I am sitting here staring at a piece of ledger paper taped to my desk with the words DREAM on it. As I try to stay focused and not give into instant gratification, I read this and I pass it on to you:
DREAM
D - Decide what you really want.
R - Realize wishing won't make it so
E - Engage in behaviors that will take you closer to your goal
A - Accept set backs and go on
M - Make it a true Lifestyle Change
