Even at a young age, I always loved to perform. In fact, my mother said that
as a child I didn't learn how to walk but how to dance. I thought of
dancing professionally but didn't quite fit in with the ultra-thin, lengthy
ballerinas who shared the stage with me. Not sure which direction to go into
and after spending a couple years in fashion modeling, I entered college.
That's when it happened-the acting bug bit! After performing in various
venues and graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Acting, I moved to
California.
While in California, however, my life took an unexpected turn. After a show
one night, I met an audience member who followed me to a cast party and
since, has never left my side. After falling in love and marrying this
devoted fan, I took some time off to focus on what I call "domestic
adventures." I even tried many other professions including personal
training and directing children's drama and dance. But I could not fill the
void that was in my heart -the longing to perform.
So when I auditioned for a fusion dance company-"just for the fun of it", it
finally hit me, "This is what I was meant to do. So, do it!" After the
show's run, I had a long talk with my family and told them the acting and
dancing bug had bit me again and that I was going full force into living my
dream. I was "Back in the Biz!"
Since making that decision with my whole heart, I haven't looked back. I
have split my time acting, dancing and pursuing other creative outlets along
with mothering and home schooling my three children. I can't explain the
force that drives me other than "purpose and passion." What's my purpose?
Not quite sure. Where did I find the passion? Haven't a clue (but have
some idea.) I just know it is there and when the time comes my purpose will
be revealed. Until then I just pursue!
I still continue (when time allows) to teach children's dance and drama as
encouraging children is a passion of mine and being a "sister in iron" and a
health neurotic, I still continue to promote health and fitness.
No longer having the time to consult one on one, I now reveal my tips and
ideas through my newsletter, BALANCING_ACT.
I also keep busy studying Panjo (Persian street fighting) and sword
collecting( not an easy hobby here in California.) And although my
"domestic adventures" have not waned (and I suspect they never will,) I have
learned to vacuum a lot less. Being a woman with 5 vacuums, that's saying
a lot!!
